tomorrow never came
Well, two more bite the dust.
I spent the last day with two friends (separately) before their departure. One of them is flying overseas to go stay with a friend’s uncle in Italy, and the other is reentering the world of school about a one hour drive away.
I was grateful to be able to see both of them and wish them safe travels. Fortunately, my friend going to Italy is also a coworker and we just so happened to be the only two gals in the building tonight as there was only one class taking place due to showcases this weekend and tech rehearsals at the theatre. We chatted about lots of things; loss and grief, friends, personal conflicts, relationships, pets. It was a wonderful time. She even got me a sweety treaty bevvy for our work hang out session (what a doll!).
My other friend and I went to a bar / cafe / club (haha yes, it is indeed described as all those things) for the evening and ate some yummy food while we drank lychee juice. Besides the small colony of millennials that entered around 9pm, the ambient atmosphere allowed for a wonderful time together laughing and chatting. We talked about traveling, sex, tongue piercings and party tricks, and swinging (thrilling subject!), as well as a variety of other more wholesome topics. We reminisced and thanked each other for this summer, as we both needed each other vehemently, let’s be honest. We drove home, crossing the river in cinematic fashion, cruising the downtown with our windows down, while discussing our perfect man (will he ever come along? Stay tuned to find out).
I’ve come to realize how much my friends truly mean to me. I’ve always struggled with connecting and have become quite selective with my company, and I’ve recently come to discover what meaningful relationships I’ve built through this time of sorrow and moving forward. I love the company of my friends. And although I still can struggle with overthinking and recluse into myself when I’m overcome with social anxiety, I never feel judged or uncomfortable around my select bunch. It’s a blessing to have just one friend in this world and a good friend is hard to come by, so I’m beyond grateful to have a few that mean the world.
With that being said, I’m quite a sad girl now that so many of them have gone away. I’ll miss you guys. Please don’t forget me.
“Tomorrow Never Came”
I could keep waiting for you
In that spot we’d always wait
In the city, on the park bench
In the summer, on the pouring rain
Honey, don’t ignore me
I just wanted it to be the same
You said you’d love me like no tomorrow
I guess tomorrow never came (no, no, no)
Tomorrow never came
