it all is as it should be
Just a brief, chatty blog post for today on the past few days.
On Monday, I had some delicious shrimp tacos made graciously by a friend. Followed by some intense life conversations leading on into the early hours of the next day. After rejuvenating my spirit with that socialization, I drove home defining my atmosphere with the songs “Heroin” and “Change.” I sleepily pulled up to a gas station before my final stretch home where my couch was awaiting me to fall into a heavy night’s sleep. Before turning into the gas station, I was being trailed by a police officer for turning left into the oncoming lane of traffic (it was black out and absolutely no cars on the road so quite confusing before my headlights reached the road to inform me of my mistake) but nonetheless I felt safer pumping my gas at 2am. I finally reached homebase and fell facefirst into my pillow to dream listlessly.
On Tuesday, I decided to make a long journey into the world and departed my apartment walking until I reached a bench alongside the creek. I crocheted while immensely enjoying my ability to people-watch at this specific bend in the trail, but upon the return home, I came across a stray dog. It came bounding up and I tensed in fear but it turned out to be the sweetest boy on this earth (not hard these days). I called the non-emergency police to report his whereabouts and decided to entertain him until they arrived to allow him to not be hit by a car.(!) They only took an hour and a half to arrive so buddy and I looked like quite the charming little tableau waiting on the side of the road as each car passed by us smiling down from their windows. Fortunately for me, this dog was #1 dog of the year and had no issue just sitting by my side until he got picked up, or if he did stray, he was very obedient when I called him back. Perhaps it was Nala reincarnated, but I hope not for Nala’s sake. Although, she would come back as a dog, let’s be honest.
Anyway, I finally returned home after that excursion and had a typical day until my friend and I decided to go take a stroll by the river. See, my friend is leaving Friday to return to her reeling life at University, so we’re “hang-out-maxxing” to really soak each other up. We were walking along the path when we passed by a woman, smiling and saying hi as one does in the midwest (although, not too much anymore) and suddenly, after we’d passed and were about 15 feet apart, she turns around and calls out,”Sorry I was staring at you guys, you’re both just so beautiful.” She goes on to ask if we model or have modeled before and we both bashfully say no as it’s not every day you get scouted while taking a walk on the bike path. She ended up giving us her information and we surprisingly found out she has 27k followers online so miss girl may in fact be the real deal. She asked us to come to an open casting call on Saturday and as much as we would have loved to partake in some exposure therapy together, my friend’s departing one day too soon so modeling will have to wait. I’m just going to attribute this interaction to the fact that we’re both tall and were walking directly into the sunset, so we had that nice golden hour glow, but I don’t know about all that modeling stuff, nuh uh. I loved the cold outreach attempt from her though, yes confident queen.
We ended the night by getting some ice cream and groveling about our lives and misfortunes because well what else do you talk about over a late-night sweet treat?
Today has been good! And tomorrow will be good, and the day after will be good, and yes, it all is as it should be.
