Day 7 - A Good Reminder
Well... hasn't it been a while.
But I think I've realized that's just what can happen when you live a life. Not everything needs to be consistently perfect or happen every single day. And that is a refreshing thought.
After reading Mark Manson's self-help book, I had a lot to say about it, but now, after actually allowing for it to sink in a bit, I can say it's really impacted me! And that's so interesting for me to actually realize because I never really believed in self-help genre (I honestly don't know why I just had something against it). But it really makes me want to delve into more self-help and become even more motivated / encouraged to live my life a certain way.
The most helpful lesson from Manson was to take responsibility for my own emotions, feelings, and problems. Because that is truly how you begin living a free life. Without constraints and constant worry about needing to control something I can't. I've finally realized that!
What I cannot control, I cannot worry about. At least not if I want to live my life to the fullest. It's so challenging when people say something like "if you can't control it, don't worry about it." Because without having a root understanding as to how to do this and even why you might do this, it's almost impossible to change. That's why a whole book about something is so beneficial to actually changing a mindset because it allows for the current negative mindset to be broken down so thoroughly to the barest basics, so that then you're able to fully comprehend why it's bad. Once you're able to understand that is when you can understand why you want to change it and exactly how to do that.
Recently I made some Christmas cards and sent them out to my family members and J's family members. I painted a couple with mistletoe on them and ornaments hanging. It was a really fun experience!
And yesterday, J and I went to a really small town's Christmas festival and bought Christmas presents while observing the traditional Swedish traditions that the town takes part in due to their Swedish descendant statis.
I just feel so grateful for a true reality shift in how I view certain problems that no longer need to rule my entire life. I feel so much lighter and happier as a person and it's not that nagging anxiety doesn't occasionally come back to the surface, but now I'm able to control it so much more and logically affirm things to remember why it doesn't affect me.
Life is just constantly moving, and it feels hard to keep up with everything sometimes.
