Another Layer

Day 4

Well... it's that time of the night where I'm in my last hour of work and have some time to write a thought or two. But who am I kidding? I almost always am able to write anytime at work due to my very low-effort job.

Being a receptionist has its pros and cons, but I remember before ever getting into this line of work, I would see so many people who either said their receptionist job was constant chaos or a total breeze and I worried about what my experience might be. So, I was grateful to find out that very seldom is my job chaotic and much more often it's the latter. However, as I said, it has its pros and cons. Because for the amount of time I'm at work in comparison to the amount of work I actually have to do, I have to constantly find new things to entertain my time. But, as always, your brain will find a way to make anything a problem.

I actually find that so interesting that your brain constantly takes any circumstance and can practically always make it problematic after you've assimilated into a routine of some kind. Whenever something extends for an amount of time where it becomes predictable, it also becomes boring and then your brain starts to make it problematic. But I suppose this is also because you know what all to expect and once you know that your brain will try to predict any possible problems.

To end on a positive note, I love working my receptionist job because of the random interactions with children. Kids are unpredictable and refreshing so it adds a nice touch to my otherwise mundane job!
