Day 18 - Curriculum?

I began recently watching a creator on YouTube, Elizabeth Jean, and she has a lot of videos regarding having her own curriculum to learn about topics that she takes interest in. For instance, she's currently teaching herself about various types of tea (origins, taste, etc.) She has multiple other "courses" she's created for herself and she previously taught herself about wine in a similar way to how she is now learning about tea.

She regards her sessions as "semesters", almost as if she has created her own schooling system for her own personal interests. When I began watching her videos, I became very interested in also creating a type of curriculum for myself and my own interests, but I don't know where to start. This did inspire me to get back on Duolingo but ultimately, I don't feel Duo actually teaches me much. I use it more as a tool to maintain what I already know.

Maybe I'll try to create a curriculum for myself but for now I'm glad I can brainstorm some ideas to create some fun "classes." I think it's such a wonderful thing to continue learning and specifically, to be able to continue to learn after finishing school because you are able to choose any and every topic that interests you. There's no need to worry about taking those silly math classes that have so much tedious homework.

While reading "Wuthering Heights", Cathy begins to describe her perfect day with Linton and I began to consider my own perfect day. This reminded me of the fact that their perfect days revolved around nature and literature and tea or meals, not social media or taking pictures or listening to music. This really made me think about the fact that I truly do want to begin living my life in a fully offline way. This includes Spotify and even this blog. I don't think I'll truly ever fully live in this way I'm describing but if I could envision my perfect day, it wouldn't include my phone in any way feasible. This also really invigorates me to learn through books, and not primarily through videos or surfing the web.
