Day 13
Well, goodness. I had my first therapy session today!
I was really nervous going into it because I'm very unfamiliar with any counseling or therapy services and didn't know what to expect. But I genuinely feel encouraged to keep going back and I'm really looking forward to telling about my experiences that have compiled to get me where I am now.
My (new) therapist asked me questions to "get to know me" and it was interesting to be thrown off guard with a compilation of random questions about myself. I don't tend to be the most talkative to most people and I don't really enjoying being the center of attention, so trying to accurately answer questions where I couldn't ask back, "what about you?" felt very strange. There's also just this next level pressure due to the fact that they're taking note of everything you say out loud. It's definitely something to get accustomed to.
This past weekend was so great! It's been brutally cold, but that's not stopping J and I from living our best lives teehee. Yesterday, we went and had a lovely breakfast / chat time with his family and then proceeded to go to church. I really have been trying to reconnect with my faith and spirituality, and I find church to be such a grounding experience. It was a tad bit overwhelming, but along the lines of intentionality, I'd really love to follow through with any and all intentions I have. Church being one of them.
We printed photos from 2025 for our photo album and dated almost all of them. The plan is to write notes on the back of each one of either what was happening or a special moment from that memory; this way, we can look back on them and really remember the special moment. I also made miso soup because we went to the oriental food store the day previously to acquire miso paste. The miso soup was okay, I definitely need to work on finding a new recipe and improve my miso soup-making capabilities.
J and I have also been very interested in maintaining a circadian aligned lifestyle, so last night we went to Lost Grove and watched the sunset on the frozen lake. We found three frozen fish (poor guys), but the wind chill made the temperature feel into the negatives and after 30 minutes we ran back to the car. It was a very fun adventure, and I forgot how much I appreciated the beauty of a fiery sunset on a reflective frozen body of water.
Overall, I've been thoroughly enjoying life!
